“ I can see why this pub has so many good reviews. It's a little like stepping back a few years to an older pub. Not victorian, but 80's. That said, it is a very lovely place. A bit dated, but lovely. The staff are fabulous and could not be more hospitable, and genuinely wanting to look after you. In a way you don't tend to get with the pub chains. Lovely food too. Not gourmet but home cooked food that is good and hot. Plus, we sat by the radiator, which was on, and was very cosy. Recommended. ”
“ Great welcome on arrival - we ate in the bar area. Service was slick and the beer obviously well kept ( I had London Pride and Sussex Best). Starters were huge - 4 of us shared a 2 starters - garlic bread and chilli cheese chips). Mains on the menu of the day we're superb as well. Very reasonable pricing as well. We'll be back when we visit our friends in Eastbourne again. ”

The amazing staff checked whether there were any allergies or food restrictions and recommended alternatives. Watch out....portion sizes are rather on the big side here. “ Today The Marine served the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. The cod was perfectly crisp, tasty, and huge. The chips were as good as they get and even the mushy peas were flavorful. Fish and chips were screaming hot, fresh out of the fryer, and the mushy peas were steaming hot. The pints were cold and the service was friendly and welcoming. The decor was traditional and comfortable and the crowd of locals added to the ambience. I'll gladly return if my travel schedule allows. Perfect fish and chips at a reasonable price. Who knew? That was a rhetorical question; obviously the local regulars know. Go if you have a chance. ”
